Pizzaiolo

Ich bin nach der Arbeit bei Pizzaiolo am Dietrichsteinplatz vorbeigekommen, weil ich Lust auf Pizza hatte. Die Margherita war lecker, kam aber etwas später als erwartet, da viel los war. Das Personal war freundlich, und ein Kellner hat sich sogar für die Wartezeit entschuldigt. Insgesamt ein netter Ort für eine schnelle Pizza, auch wenn der Service etwas flotter sein könnte.

OMG!!! This pizza was EVERYTHING!!! I will give you the rundown of the whole experience (as I always do). Soooo, I'll begin by saying that the restaurant is off the beaten path. You won't find it in any "touristy" spots. No. My roommate and I walked about 15 to 17ish minutes away from the city center to find it. The reviews on Google were good. AND LET ME TELL YOU: THE WALK WAS WORTH IT!! It's located in a kind of "seedy" part of Graz, though there aren't any real unsafe areas in Graz, Austria. Lol. It's Graz! The exterior was a bit unkempt, and there was debris and cigarette butts everywhere. I saw some trash and paper outside of the restaurant, too. The interior of the restaurant was a bit better. There were some nice pieces of art on the wall, and it was relatively clean inside. It's not a very large establishment, and the tables are quite close together. The men's restroom, as you'll see from my photos and videos, was a bit unsightly, too. Yes. This place is a bit of a hole in the wall. KEEP READING... **HOWEVER, if you can get past all of that, YOU WILL BE IN FOR A TREAT, MY FRIEND! That pizza that I ordered was AMAAAAAZING!!!!! Look at the picture I uploaded!! It was perfectly the way I requested, made to order. I will readily admit that in the beginning, there was a bit of miscommunication because my order was lost in translation. The server only understood Italian and some German. Therefore, my original pie had to be sent back because there was a miscommunication. But when they finally understood what I wanted, it was magical! When I returned from the bathroom cleansing my hands, the pie was waiting for me. I could not believe my eyes! I ordered a pie with sausage and pepperoni, and no cheese. It was exactly as I requested, with fresh basil leaves on top! SEHR LECKER!!! I enjoyed that pizza soooo much that I'm already thinking about going again!! I must say that it was a little pricey, though! It's mainly because they charged me a la carte for the toppings I wanted. But that pizza was to die for!

Gezien de reviews hadden we deze pizzeria uitgekozen. We werden aardig in het Italiaans aangesproken en verwachtten er heel wat van. Helaas, we hebben hier de slechtste pizza ooit gegeten. De bodem was zo taai dat het haast niet te snijden was en de vulling liet ook veel te wensen over terwijl de gemiddelde prijs voor een pizza hier €17 euro is. Het is het geld echt niet waard!!

Die Pizzen waren geschmacklich lecker, aber nicht außergewöhnlich. Sie waren leider etwas zu kurz im Ofen und daher relativ blass. Außerdem mussten wir doch ganz schön lange (ca. 45min) auf unser Essen warten. Schön wäre auch, wenn schon am Platz Salz und Pfeffer stehen würden und man nicht extra nachfragen müsste. In der Zeit bis die Gewürze dann kommen ist die Pizza dann schon kalt.

Besuch am Freitag Abend (ca. 18:00). Ohne Reservierung kaum eine Chance auf einen Platz vor allem für mehr als zwei Personen. Wir waren zu viert. Getränke und Essen wurden schnell aufgenommen. Trinken konnten wir schnell, essen eher nicht. Eine Stunde Wartezeit für vier Pizzen ist doch sehr lange. Gäste vor Ort werden zum Warten gezwungen weil die ganze Zeit Speisen zum Abholen zubereitet wurden. Weiter stört mich, dass die Tischreservierung bei uns nur für 1,5h gold. da bleibt nicht viel Zeit zu essen. Die Pizzen waren gut. Mittlerweile aber nicht mehr einzigartig in Graz. Ambiente eher lieblos und könnte wieder ein wenig Auffrischung vertragen. Die Musik war kaum zu ertragen. Personal freundlich. Untergeschoß nur per Treppe erreichbar.

Two years ago I made a reservation for 10 people with them - I called a week in advance, they said all good. When we arrived, they told us that actually we had to eat within 1 hour, because after that they had another reservation. I never saw any restaurant doing such a ridiculous move -- and would in any case expect to be told about it upfront when doing the reservation, and not only once I arrive a week later. I never went back for two years until today someone convinced me to try it again. We arrived at 11:35. Had our orders taken at 11:40. Our pizzas arrived at 12:20. It was full, you think? No, we were the first people in the restaurant. After us, in those 40 minutes of wait, only 3 other tables got people arriving. No deliveries were being sent out. And, most importantly, at 12:10 they received a truck full of ingredients: cheese, tomatoes, etc. My guess is that they didn't even had the ingredients there when they took our order. And of course they never told us it would take long. When we asked if it's every day taking this long (we thought that maybe the oven takes a while to heat up), they said that it is because someone is in vacations, so the other person had to "cut all the ham". 40 minutes cutting ham? Sure, sure. And that's it, not even a sorry for the delay. And not a warning that it would take a long while, when apparently the ham wasn't even there before 12:10, so they definitely knew it would take long. Besides this constant lack of communicating that they have surprise unpleasant plans of their own (of cutting your dinner short at 1 hour or making your lunch wait last 40 minutes), they also charge 90 cents for tap water without warning. And the pizza? Just a normal pizza. A bit dough-y, not a lot of ingredients, lots of tomato sauce. Normal Napoli style.

If you are in Graz you should enjoy the delicious Italian food at Pizzaiolo. Even though I love to eat low carb or even ketogenic the whole year I make an exception here. They make their own high quality dough and they use high quality ingredients. Their olive oil is from a farmer in Italy and that tastes so good! The dough has to rest 48 hours before it gets used as a pizza dough. I ordered a plate with different kinds of cheese and then a pizza formaggioso. Everything was delicious. The pizza was the highlight. The 4 different kinds of cheese were amazingly tasty. Perfectly cooked. The beautiful smell of the delicious dough was even after the restaurant visit on my hands. Very good! Only the location and the interior design are not that nice at the restaurant in Dietrichsteinplatz. There is another restaurant of Pizzaiolo in Graz not too far away on Karmeliterplatz and that place is much more beautiful. The service was very friendly and helpful! A charming experience!!
